The 2023 NCAA women’s volleyball tournament bracket was recently announced Nov. 26. The bracket includes 64 teams, 32 of them being automatic qualifiers, and the rest chosen by the NCAA committee. This season has been interesting to say the least, with more parody than anyone has seen before in college volleyball. T
The only consistent team throughout the year was the Nebraska Cornhuskers. They started the season 27-0 and ended the year 28-1 with their only loss coming to conference foe Wisconsin. They are headed into the tournament as the heavy favorites, but with four starting freshman, anything can happen.
The SEC posts the most teams in the bracket with eight. Kentucky, Arkansas, and Tennessee are the highest ranked and looking to continue their strong seasons in the postseason. Kentucky and Arkansas have a chance to play in the Sweet 16 in their third meeting this season.
The ACC also brought four seeded teams to the tournament. Pittsburgh, Louisville, Georgia Tech, and Florida State are all on the left side of the bracket this year. Pittsburgh earned a one seed and could play the two seeded Louisville Cardinals in the Elite Eight.
The Pac-12 Conference added several teams to the field with one seed Stanford, two seed Oregon, and four seed Washington State. Strong conference games should help these teams in the postseason. These teams are also all on the same side of the bracket.
Big Ten offers many team such as Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue and Minnesota. All these teams have great history in the NCAA Tournament and all have a shot at making a deep run.
Some underdog teams to watch for include James Madison, Dayton, Hawaii, and Georgia. These teams have had big upsets this year and could make a run in the tournament.
